Don't leave home without this in your suitcase

When it comes to travelling, you probably fall into one of two camps: Either you pack enough clothes so you'll never have to do laundry while you are away, or you pack light and plan to wash your clothes while you travel. Either is fine, but if you are looking to travel light, you're going to need some way of washing your clothes when the need arises. This travel detergent is the BEST way to wash your clothes right in the sink.

Forever New Powder

The active ingredients in this powder include natural water softeners, water conditioners, baking soda and plant-based, biodegradable cleansers. This comes in a convenient 10-wash size that is perfect for travelling.

From their website:

"Forever New® is never formulated with parabens, phthalates and is never tested on animals."

What I loved about this was a) how it smelled (lovely and fresh without being perfumey or overpowering), and b) how quick and easy it was to use.

Here's what you do: Simply add your items to a sink), toss in 1-2 tbsp of the powder, add water and swish the whole lot around a bit. Let soak for at least five minutes and then rinse thoroughly and leave to dry (I hung my items from the clothesline in our resort room bathroom). The next morning, my clothes were dry and my white socks were sparkling clean. There was absolutely no residue left behind, and the powder did not irritate my very sensitive skin.

If you are travelling any time soon, I cannot recommend this highly enough! Incidentally, if you want to wash your delicates by machine, you can use this for that purpose, too. Great for avoiding the high-cost of resort laundry soap, too, even if you use their facilities. The 10-wash size of Forever New is just $5.95 Cdn.

While you're packing for your vacation, if a swimsuit is on your packing list, be sure this product is, too.

Splash Swimwear Wash is designed to neutralize chlorine and salt that can be left on your swimwear after you go for a dip, whether it's in the hotel pool or the great wide ocean. The plant-based cleansers in this product also remove sunscreen and body oil while removing that unpleasant chlorine smell from swimwear. $10 Cdn for 40 washes.

Simply add the required amount to a sink full of water, add your swimwear, and allow to sit for a few minutes Rinse, and hang to dry. (If you're like me and forget to bring a stopper for the sink, you improve with a washcloth).

Both Forever New and Splash Swimwear Wash will be in my suitcase every time I travel from now on. Both are available together, in a "Jetsetter" set, which also comes with a sleep mask and ear plugs:
